Vajrasana is a centre for residential retreats owned by the London Buddhist Centre. Recently it has been redeveloped completely but this little communal sitting room and hub, which we completed in 2008, remains.
We designed a centralised, pyramidal building, appropriate to its role as a centre and gathering point; with a gabled entrance to extend a welcome to arriving retreatants, glazing in all directions to express openness, and a vaulted 'lotus flower' ceiling to enhance the sense of enclosure.
